What does the Sakai Test Drive look like?
What is it?
Changing CMS applications is a daunting task under the best of circumstances, as is establishing a new eportfolio. The Sakai Test Drive gives interested schools a chance to try these two Sakai tools in a low-risk situation. Schools can run two courses FREE!! per term to test the Open Source Portfolio and Sakai's collaboration and course management tools.
What can I do in the Sakai Test Drive (what’s included)?
If your school or institution is interested in trying Sakai, you can run up to two courses per term (either quarter or semester) or create an eportfolio to use for a year. You can enroll up to 50 students total in the Sakai Test Drive. OLP has a simple spreadsheet template for you to provide your student enrollment information to us.
As part of the Sakai Test Drive, your college or school will have access to an online self-help portal with instructions, best practices, and tips on how to get the most out of Sakai.
What’s not included (and why?)
Because the Sakai Test Drive is a self-guided program, it does not include end-user technical support. Additionally, the program does not include staff professional development.
What are the basic requirements to participate in the Sakai Test Drive?
Participating in the OLP Sakai Test Drive program requires two actions on your part:
- You will need to agree to the Terms of Use for the OLP Sakai Test Drive program.
- You will need to complete and return the OLP Enrollment spreadsheet. This provides the OLP with the information needed to create accounts for your faculty and students.
How long can I use it?
Your school can use the Sakai Test Drive program for up to one year. After that, if your organization is satisfied with Sakai, you may contact OLP for information on how your organization can become a member of the OLP.
Your course data will be stored for one year past the end of the course and then purged from the system. If needed, arrangements can be made to export your data.
