What is OLP Ohio?

As the educational environment shifts towards a new generation of online learning tools, Ohio’s higher education and PK-12 schools need assistance integrating these tools into their technology infrastructure and curriculum. To help address this need, the eTech Ohio Commission and the Ohio Learning Network (OLN) have partnered to create the Open Learning Partnership Ohio (OLP Ohio). Focusing on innovative technologies, OLP Ohio will explore and support innovative technology solutions for Ohio PK-20 teachers and learners.

OLP Ohio Projects

OLP Ohio is currently working on the Sakai Pilot Project which builds upon the successes that the Ohio Learning Network (OLN) achieved through its Open Source Pilot Project. Since 2005 OLN’s Open Source Pilot has supported a small scale deployment of Sakai for the Ohio higher education community.

Through OLP Ohio, eTech Ohio and OLN have partnered to share resources and expand this offering. This expanded pilot project will test the efficacy of Sakai, an open source Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE), as a viable platform to support Ohio PK-20 teaching and learning.
To accomplish this, OLP is offering pilot participants access to centrally hosted instances of the Sakai CLE system. As part of the Sakai Pilot Project, OLP Ohio will also work to customize this system to meet the needs of Ohio educators and learners. OLP Ohio is also providing a range of technical support, help desk, professional development, content migration and other support services through the Sakai Pilot Project.
